Calico Cat is the brainchild of Sotones veteran and one sixth of Haunted Stereo Andy Harris.
Andy Harris has been part of the local music scene for some years now both as a key member of Haunted Stereo and as guitarist/producer for Anja McCloskey, as well as a number of years for avant-garde pop orchestra The Irrepressibles. Critically aclaimed Haunted Stereo tracks such as ‘Can’t You See My Side?’ (single), ‘To Be Good’ (Cross the Sea EP) and ‘The Ballad of Osnaburgh Street’ (In Bars EP) have all come from his pen, yet Calico Cat is the first musical project to be driven soley by Andy.
“It’s taken a while for me to launch what is in effect a solo project” states Andy, “I have always felt I work best with others, perhaps that is still true. But it seemed the right time to do something wholy on my own”. With Calico Cat, Andy is certainly indulging himself in his pop sensibilities. Elements of this have shone through in Haunted Stereo’s arrangements and especially in the aforementioned ‘Can’t You See My Side?’
Calico Cat’s first EP includes a number of Sotones cameos: Dave Miatt (aka Jackie Paper) appears on the single Aimless, Richard Lomax of Johnny5thWheel&thecowards, Joe Kelly of Etao Shin and Anja McCloskey all feature on the EP, alongside some Haunted Stereo bandmates.
